Black Book is privileged to have Ken Ruzic on the bill of Hybrid artists showcasing his art at the Hybrid Art Collective this Saturday May 2nd at Bo Bridges gallery in Manhattan Beach!
Ruzic, a self-taught fine artist, former marine, and world traveler began his artistic career twenty-five years ago. Since he was a kid, Ruzic always knew he wanted to be an artist and saw an opening to launch his career in the surf industry. Ruzic says he began “getting his chops” doing tee-shirt graphic design for Rusty Surfboards and Hawaiian Island Creations. Wanting to pursue fine arts, and being a curious kid, Ruzic divided his time between honing his skills in fine arts and his career in graphic design. Around ten years ago Ruzic began experimenting with integrating the two such as “taking a Boujerie painting and blowing it up with detail”. Now he draws on both disciplines and translates concepts and color, finding new ways to cross over one to the other.
Ruzic’s work includes acrylics, water color, ink, & wood burning. He has shown at the Tiki Pop Show and at the Musee Du Quai Branly in Paris. You can also check him out at Max Bloom’s in Fullerton, CA at the First Friday event on June 5th 2015.
